Catching up from before Memorial Day

We stayed at Abiquiu Lake until Memorial Day then stayed at Park Creek Campground in the Rio Grande National Forest near South Fork Colorado where our campsite backed up onto a mountain stream.
We did not catch any fish but we had fun trying.
We then went across the Great Divide to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado for a couple days.
We crossed the Great Divide again on our way to the Curecanti National Recreation Area near Gunnison Colorado.
Then we went to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park near Montrose Colorado.
Peg stayed on the trail without going anyhere near the canyon overlooks.
There were a lot of deer in and around the campsites at Black Canyon.
After Black Canyon, we drove a short distance up the steep curvy road at the Colorado Monument near Grand Junction. As soon as we could find a place to cool the van’s engine down and turn around, we decided we had had enough of canyons bypassed Arches National Park and went to Green River Utah to re-evaluate our itinerary. The weather was getting hot so we decided to head north sooner than we had anticipated and we drove through Utah well into Idaho and stayed in various campgrounds in the Targhee National Forest in Northeastern Idaho and Western Wyoming around Alpine.
We are now in the Gallatin National Forest near West Yellowstone Montana. We will be visiting with Mark and Charlotte when they fly in next week. In the meantime, we have visited Yellowstone National Park and seen some of the sites.
We have decided that we are really flatlanders and will not continue to the Northwest this year but instead travel through Montana and North Dakota next.
