Journey North

April 29, 2014 § 2 Comments

The kids called the other day

To wish mom a happy birthday

She celebrated with a texas sheet cake

It reminded us that our oldest is about retire

and enjoy the life of a writer in casual attire

He and his mate Charlotte are co-authors

Their call also reminded us that our posts were not up to date

so they did not know that we were to be blown from the state

A tornado 3 miles north and four to the south

Another round tonight

We are sure we will be fine

We inhabit the bath house during the storms

Since leaving Davis Bayou in Ocean Springs MS in mid March, we have stayed at Corps of Engineers Campgrounds in Southwestern Alabama that we have always bypassed before for one reason or another:

Service Park on Coffeeville Lake

Isaac Creek on Claiborne Lake

Miller’s Ferry on William “Bill” Dannelly Lake

Gunter Hill on Woodruff Lake

Forkland on Demopolis Lake

We then started our gradual journey to Illinois along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway at Pickensville Alabama on Aliceville Lake then DeWayne Hayes near Columbus MS.

After the last tornado threat is past, we will proceed to Fulton MS.  That area was hit pretty hard last night.
