Taking State Stock

September 15, 2014 § 3 Comments

Well the tally is in.  We have been to all of the 48 contiguous states.  We had some discussion about Rhode Island and decided that we had driven through that state but not stayed there.  Since we most likely will not be in Rhode Island again, we are counting it in the states we’ve been to.

We can now target the areas we most enjoy.  We have decided we are definitely mid – westerners at heart but enjoy mild low mountains now and then.  Pennsylvania and New York are very pretty but getting there usually means going through Ohio.  It seems there is only one road through Ohio which goes on and on forever full of trucks.

We seem to be most comfortable in the Mississippi River corridor from Minnesota to the Gulf.  We usually divert to the alternate Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway through Mississippi and Alabama.  On the Gulf, we enjoy most of the shore line from Corpus Christi Texas to Steinhatchee Florida.

That’s where we will heading in the spring.

    Sorry to hear about PA!

Got back last evening from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, where they sorted out low platelet count in blood (2000 rather than normal 150,000 or higher. Now feel better than ever. Just need to get the knee straight in the next few weeks.

Love to all. Would love to see you.

Pretty cool to mark them all off….I dig the river valley too. Trying on the Rockport TX area this year, instead of gulf coast Alabama. Jury still out…

  • Well done! We missed Nebraska. And now we’ll never get there. We are very fond of the southwest. The National Parks and the weather may have something to do with that!
