Eagle Lake California

September 21, 2014 § Leave a comment

Merrill campground on Eagle Lake is a comfortable campground with no hookups but paved sites and tall evergreens.

The lake is but a fraction of it’s normal area because of the drought.   Instead of having the shore line near the campground, it is a pretty good walk.  The marina is high and dry with the boat slips lying on the ground.  The boaters are not phased though.  The forest constructed a new low water launch for them.

When the Forest Service retired a fire watch tower, the local national guard as a training excerise moved it with helicopters to the marina so people could see what one looks like.

We are very relaxed here but are thinking about frying elephant ears between naps.
