Roosevelt Lake

March 22, 2015 § 5 Comments

When Yuma Arizona decided to turn the thermometer to the 90’s, we decided to move to the mountains where the Temps might be in the 70’s and lower 80’s.

Lake Roosevelt is east of the Phoenix area in medium high mountains.  The high country such as around the Grand Canyon is still in the low 30’s at night but our valley in the medium heights is perfect.

The biggest problem here has been internet.  It comes and goes so we thought we would wait to post until we got some place else but we have enjoyed this place so much we stayed on.  We hope there will be a window of Internet open long enough to publish this post.

We had intended to be heading east but the weather in Texas is kind of unpleasant.  One of these days that’s where we will be heading anyway.

Love your travel logs–especially pix of you two! Do you haul the table and canopy with you? Love ya!

    • We do carry a table and canopy with us but seldom use either at an organized camp ground because there is at least a table at each campsite. Out west, most organized campgrounds also have a permanent canopy that is referred to as a ramada.
When we boondock, also referred to as dry camping, nothing is provided and we use only what we carry with us including water. We only do that out west in the wide open desert.

  • Enjoy your stay! The temps sound perfect!

We spent 4 nights at Cholla in February….can’t tell if you are there or the other campground. Just know that we will be returning as it was a great place! Love the views of Lake Roosevelt!
